When: Sunday, May 26, 2013 (This is Memorial Weekend and will be the last Sunday in May of each year)
Where: Wheatley Heights Sports Complex, 1023 Upland Rd, San Antonio, TX 78220, (SE San Antonio, near E. Houston St and I10/Hwy 90).
Time: The track opens at 6 AM: Opening Ceremonies on the track at Wheatley Heights Sports Complex start at 7:45 AM. All Races start at 8 AM. The kids walk/run will start directly after.
Late Registration: Starting at 6:30 AM next to the track. Registration entry fee at the event or at Packet Pickup is $60 per runner (cash or check only). Please be early. It takes time to fill out the form for 5 teammates if you are on a relay, . It is the Captain’s responsibility to make sure his or her team is registered and on time for the event and the start.
Runner’s Staging Area: Runners will warm up (prior to their baton exchange) in the track infield. Teams are encouraged to stay together before, during and after the race to avoid confusion at the start, for the handoffs and for the awards ceremony. It is the Captain’s responsibility to maintain team integrity for all functions.
Races start at 8:00 AM. The Kids fun run will start immediately after.
The Race: All races will start and finish on the track.
The Kids Fun Run and the 5k may be walked or run. The 25k Solo Run and the 25k Relay is for runners only.
The general admission is $10 per person. Children 6 and under are free. Runners get in free with race bib.

Mail registration must be post dated on or before above dates for corresponding fees.
The Kids run is $10. They get a free American Hero T-shirts and participation award.
Registration at the event or at Packet Pickup at the Spaghetti Warehouse (Sat 25 May, 1pm to 5pm) is $60 per runner/walker. Relay teams are encouraged to sign-up the entire team at one time. If relay team members register seperately make sure the entire team has the same team captain and team name. Make sure the spelling is correct so that we can properly combine the members into the appropriate teams with the necessary bib numbers.
Mail Registration closes midnight Sat 18 May, Internet Registration (Active.com) closes midnight (Thursday) 23 May 2013.
Registration after 23 May 2012 can be done at packet pickup the day before the race at Spaghetti Warehouse or 7 AM at the event, on the infield next to the track.
All entries are non-refundable even if event is cancelled. Note: in 43 years and over 200 meets, the Free Spirits have never cancelled an event. We go rain or shine. After expenses, all funds go towards scholarships for cancer survivors (includes other diseases, blindness and child abuse) and to our Partners (non-profit charities).
Relay Alternates: Alternates are allowed to replace registered runners who cannot participate. They must have the bib number in hand of the person they are replacing in order to get into the race without an entry fee. Go to the registration table and sign in to make the name change. Alternates without bib numbers in hand must pay $60 at the registration table.
On race day, alternates who have paid their entry fee will be allowed to join other teams needing a runner at the meet or join other alternates also looking for a team. Runners without teams will run the 5k solo.
Need a Team/Runner: You will be matched with other runners also needing a team (in the appropriate division). You will be notified at packet pickup when you are matched to a team. Fill out application and mark the applicable division/category and check “Need a Team” or “Need a Runner.”
